The opportunity to change

WhyWe all have areas where we lack confidence or stumble when communicating with others.

How often do we repeat the same mistakes, or can never see what we’re doing wrong?

In real life, when do we ever get the chance to practice, to get better, to ‘play’?

That’s the beauty of role-play. It gives you that opportunity.

The background

Adapted from skills used in the theatre, role-play is now used widely by organisations for teaching communication skills.

Unfortunately, its use is not always handled effectively and it often has a poor reputation amongst those who have experienced it. It would be a rare occasion for a group of individuals faced with the prospect of a training session involving role-play, to be sitting with anything other than faces of apprehension and dread.

However, when handled by a dedicated team of professional facilitators and actors, used to the process and adept at creating a safe and encouraging environment within which to ‘play’, this situation is transformed.

The results bring about real change in peoples’ behaviour and perspectives, positively affecting their ability to communicate successfully.

Azimuth rose to the challenge and provided a workshop session that delegates felt drawn into, were willing to participate in and found both highly amusing and yet sensitive, splendidly interactive and participative.
